The Sharp End of the Knife

Kath finds out about the townships

At the Sharp End of the Knife 52 and 70 min versions, an international feature doc for TV and Cinema. Co-produced with Stonehouse Productions, South Africa.

A story that goes with Glaswegian Cathy McCormack into the Township heartlands of Alexandra, Soweto, Khaylitsha, Manenburg in South Africa, and Easterhouse, Scotland...

An eye level view as Scottish woman activist Cathy McCormack is invited to the townships of South Africa to meet fellow activists building the ‘New’ South Africa. She may be dodging the bullets, but finds energy and inspiration in the people she meets as she makes intriguing parallels with their lives, and her own back in Glasgow’s infamous Easterhouse housing project.
